Hanson: America should help Ukraine resist Russian aggression

Most Americans understandably favor the Ukrainian resistance against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s naked 2022 aggression.Yet for Ukraine to break the current deadlock — our generation’s Verdun with perhaps 600,000 combined casualties so far — and “win” the war, it apparently must have the military wherewithal to hit targets inside Russia.Such strategically logical attacks might nevertheless provoke a wounded and unpredictable Russia finally to carry out its boilerplate and ignored existential threats. From the last 75 years of big-power rivalries, the operational “rules” of proxy wars are well known. In Vietnam, Korea, and Afghanistan, Russia supplied America’s enemies — sometimes even sending Russian pilots into combat zones.Thousands of Americans likely died due to our adversaries’ use of Russian munitions and personnel.Likewise, Russia lost 15,000 fatalities in its decade-long misadventure in Afghanistan. In part, Moscow’s defeat may have been due to deadly American weapons, i...India & Pakistan on track for cricket gold-medal showdown at Asian Games. Could foreshadow Olympics

Live video footage of the scene showed the majority of the road blocked off as traffic careened onto one lane to get around the semi-truck. Police blocked off the road as it became a hazmat situation when diesel spilled on the street. It remains unclear how the 18-wheeler ended up in the jackknife position, but authorities are clearing the scene with precautions to morning commuters. Happy Tuesday, South Florida!Hopefully everyone had a good start to the week. A weak front pushed through South Florida on Monday and brought more showers and thunderstorms with it. After almost over a week of tracking this slow-moving front drifting south across Florida, we can say that the front has finally moved on. I’m sure many noticed a slight difference in the weather late Monday afternoon as the skies finally cleared and the wind began to pick up. And even though South Florida woke up to a few showers this morning (especially offshore), it sure did feel slightly less humid. More importantly, the long anticipated drier air has finally moved in!Overall, today South Florida can expect an improvement weather-wise compared to what we have seen in the past week. Partly sunny skies will give way to moments of sunshine and some dry time throughout the day. However, it won’t be completely dry as a brisk Northeast breeze could still tap in to some moisture and drag in a shower from t...Latest news
